The children living in the orphanage often have significant physical and medical needs. As a result, they require extensive physical therapy. The orphanage currently staffs physical therapists paid with government funds. However, based on the number of children residing in the orphanage and their current level of needs, 2 addition physical therapists are needed in order to ensure that the children receive the recommended amount of physical therapy each week. Physical therapy helps the children to learn important gross motor tasks that help with range of motion, balance and coordination, all of which impacts a child's ability to acquire skills such as sitting up, walking, climbing stairs, chewing/eating solid foods and dressing themselves. For children with more significant special needs such as cerebral palsy or arthrogryposis, the lack of appropriate physical therapy could lead to severely restricted movement.
Two physical therapists are needed to work 5 days a week for 8 hours each day. The monthly salary for one physical therapist is $435, which includes health insurance and social security. $870 a month is needed to hire 2 physical therapists, for a total of $10,440 to find this project for one year.
THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN FULLY FUNDED FOR ONE YEAR!!!!
